Ingredients

Meat and Cheese
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices provolone cheese or any cheese of your preference
Vegetables
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional) Add for extra flavor
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
Other
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil, for cooking Drizzle for sautéing

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, add a drizzle of olive oil and heat over medium-high.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until they are tender. If using, add mushrooms and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  3. Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the ground beef to the pan. Break apart and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together properly for about 2 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low. Place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the cheese to melt, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  7. Once the cheese has melted, spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
Serving
  1. Serve your delicious Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks warm with a side of fries or a simple salad. Optionally, toast the rolls for added texture before serving.

Notes

Feel free to customize the vegetables. For extra flavor, consider marinating the beef with spices before cooking. You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a healthier version.
